Advent in Austria is still a time of peaceful reflection, but the
Christmas markets which started in the Middle Ages create a perfect
festive and traditional atmosphere. So why not join us for a little
pre-Christmas shopping in some of Europe's most spectacular settings?
Sample Christmas Markets Tour Itinerary
Day One: US Departure
Day Two: Munich - Salzburg
Munich - capital of Bavaria and gateway to the Alps. See the Christmas
Market at Marienplatz, the Hofbräuhaus and the New City Hall with
the famous Glockenspiel
Day Three: Salzburg
Salzburg - city of Mozart and the Sound of Music. See Mozart's Birthplace,
Mirabell Gardens, the Fortress Hohensalzburg, Cathedral and St. Peter's
Monastery, as well as the Christmas Market on Cathedral Square.
Day Four: Salzburg - Oberndorf - Mondsee - Vienna
Oberndorf - where Silent Night was composed and sung for the first
time in 1818.
Mondsee - the small market town on the edge of the lake whose Church
of St. Michael was used to make the wedding scene of the Sound of Music.

Day Five: Vienna
Vienna - Austria's elegant capital city with the splendour of a bygone
era, when it was the heart of the mighty Habsburg Empire. See the
Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Hofburg, the elegant
Ringstrasse, State Opera House. Experience the different Advent Markets
at Schönbrunn, in Spittelberg, at the City Hall.
Day Six: Vienna - Telc - Prague
Telc - typical of so many medieval Czech towns with its single, massive
square, the beautifully preserved facades of its burghers’ houses
and spectacular chateau.

Days Seven and Eight: Prague
Prague - known as the Golden City, the city
of one hundred-towers and the Jerusalem of Europe, the Czech capital
is also justifiably considered to be one of Euope's most beautiful
cities. See Castle Hill with St. Vitus Cathedral, the Lesser Quarter,
Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, the Jewish
Quarter. Stroll the Christmas Markets.
